The Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. was founded in 1948, beginning as a small but dedicated group of community members committed to protecting the town of Indian Head, Maryland. Over the decades, we have grown significantly in membership, fleet, and capabilities—evolving into the strong, community-focused organization we are today.
Located in Southern Maryland, we proudly serve the residents, businesses, and visitors of Indian Head and the surrounding area. Our mission goes far beyond responding to emergency calls. We strive to support our community in every way possible—whether through lifesaving fire and EMS services, educational fire prevention programs, community events we host, or participating in town-sponsored activities.
For more than 75 years, our volunteers have stood ready to serve, protect, and support our neighbors. That commitment continues today as we work to maintain the highest level of professionalism, training, and care for the community we proudly call home.
